Even though it’s been weeks since the late superstar Nora Aunor was laid to rest, various issues from her life continue to resurface, keeping her memory unsettled. It will be recalled that her son, Ian de Leon, publicly announced the passing of the Philippine Superstar and National Artist Nora Aunor after undergoing a medical procedure at a hospital where she had been brought.

In an interview with showbiz media at Heritage Park in Taguig, Ian clarified that his mother did not pass away during the actual procedure. However, he did not provide further details about her condition or what exactly transpired. Ian was accompanied by his siblings Lotlot, Matet, and Kenneth, as they expressed gratitude to the Filipino public for the love and support shown to their mother. He described Nora as a generous person—not only to her family but also to friends, supporters, and especially to those in need.

He shared that, “She was being operated on, and after that, she had a hard time breathing. Eventually, things worsened from there, which led to another procedure.” During her lifetime, Nora was known for putting others before herself. She allowed her singing and acting to inspire others, and she pursued her career because she wanted to convey that it was the people who gave her strength and love.

However, Nora’s fans—known as “Nora-nians”—are now calling for an end to the false narratives surrounding their idol, especially those that have circulated online regarding her inheritance and supposed last will and testament. In the May 9 Friday edition of Christopher M.’s YouTube program “She’s Naugh,” with Romel Chika and Wendel Alvarez, the hosts denied the spreading rumors claiming that Ian de Leon and Richard Merk were major beneficiaries of Nora Aunor’s properties and estate based on a supposed last will and testament.

But the question remains: Did Nora Aunor truly leave behind a last will and testament? And if so, who did she name as beneficiaries of her estate and properties?

According to showbiz insider Cristy Fermin, the primary heir would naturally be Ian de Leon, as Nora’s legitimate son with former partner Christopher de Leon. Lotlot, Matet, and Kenneth, while not Nora’s biological children, are still her legally adopted children and thus also have rightful claims.

Cristy Fermin shared on the show that the late superstar did indeed own properties. In a past interview, Nora herself reportedly said that each of her children would inherit 30% of what remained of a 9-hectare property—left from an original 64 hectares that she had acquired through her earnings from showbiz and singing in her hometown in Iriga City.

Fermin further revealed that there had been disputes among Nora’s family members over these properties, something Nora herself had admitted in a one-on-one interview. Nora had allegedly started legal proceedings to resolve the internal family conflicts and ensure a clear distribution of her assets. This suggests that there is a legal document, whether it’s a last will and testament or another form of legal paperwork, outlining her wishes.

Cristy also clarified that the former boyfriend of the superstar, Richard Merk, is not included in any legal documents regarding her inheritance—contrary to some social media claims currently circulating.
